Protect your home with DuraShield Impact Windows!

Impact windows provide protection against both storm debris and intrusion without the need to put up shields.

Safety & Security

Do yourself a favor and go to any internet search engine and type in “How to break into a window.” The plethora of websites, videos and how-to’s are frightening to many homeowners with old builder grade single-pane windows. These how-to’s show how simple and quick breaking into a home is for criminals. Yet, many homeowners believe that once they lock their windows and doors – they are secure in their homes. Yet, the opposite is reality.

Criminals only need simple tools to get their way into your home in less than 30 seconds; thereby, rendering your oasis into a crime scene. Typical builder grade single pane aluminium windows that many homeowners in Florida have in their home, do not have the security features necessary to keep your family and home safe from people intent on doing you harm.

Regardless of where you live, gated communities or not – criminals will do everything in their power to bypass any security feature that you may have. Every minute of every day a homeowner is at risk. Florida’s 2016 Crime Statistics* state that there was one property crime every 57 seconds. Does this information make you feel secure in your home – your oasis?

The great news is that there is new technology available for securing your home from these unscrupulous individuals and it starts with DuraShield V Impact Windows & Impact Doors. The key is to stop a break-in before it can even happen – at the entry points!

DuraShield Impact Windows

Rated for 125 mph wind-speeds

They can installed in non coastal homes. They passed ASTM Large Missile Impact tests. They carry between a DP =/- 45
and DP +/- 50* rating in accordance with the American Architectural Manufacturers Association’s standard for air, water
and structural wind load testing.
  • ASTM E-1300-04 40534 Negative design loads based on, Tested Pressure and Glass Tables
  • ASTM E-1300-04 Positive design loads based on, Tested Pressure, Water Infiltration Test Pressure and Glass Tables

DuraShield Level D, Coastal

Rated for 163 mph wind–speeds.

They can be installed practically anywhere, even right on the coastline. They passed ASTM Large Missile Impact tests. They carry between a DP =+/- 70 and DP +/- 75 rating in accordance with the American Architectural Manufacturers Association’s standard for air, water and structural wind load testing.

DuraShield “Level D” Coastal Impact Windows undergo rigorous testing and easily passed:

  • ASTM 1886/1996 Large Missile Impact tests
  • ASTM E330 Wind Load Tests
  • ASTM E331 Water Penetration Tests
  • TAS 201, 202 and 203 Tests

DuraShield High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ)

Rated for 175 mph wind–speeds

They can be installed practically anywhere, even right on the coastline and have achieved “HVHZ certification”, which means they are tested and approved for High Velocity Hurricane Zones. They passed ASTM Large Missile Impact tests. They carry between a DP =+/-100 rating in accordance with the American Architectural Manufacturers Association’s standard for air, water and structural wind load testing.

DuraShield HVAZ Impact Windows undergo rigorous testing and easily passed:

  • ASTM 1886/1996 Large Missile Impact tests
  • ASTM E330 Wind Load Tests
  • ASTM E331 Water Penetration Tests
  • TAS 201, 202 and 203 Tests

DuraShield V Impact Windows & Doors prevent nefarious individuals from crossing the threshold of your home.

Impact Glass

DuraShield V Impact Glass is a highly engineered system that utilizes several pieces of glass encasing a rugged and resilient plasticized interlayer that is similar to a car windshield except three times thicker. This ensures that even if the glass is struck by a 2 x 4 at 50 feet per second, it will not break; thereby, stopping thieves from gaining access to your home. Ordinary annealed glass found in single pane builder grade windows breaks easily. Tempered glass, while stronger, shatters under a greater impact. But laminated glass is different. If laminated glass is broken, the vinyl interlayer remains in the frame with glass fragments adhering to the interlayer. This provides a strong barrier against forced entry and cannot be cut from one side only, which renders glasscutters useless. Our laminated impact-resistant glass meets rigorous industry codes, including the American Society of Testing Materials standard for preventing forced entry (ASTM F1233) and the burglary resistant guidelines issued by Underwriters Laboratories (UL 972).

Locking Mechanism

Design of the window and location of the locking mechanism makes it impossible to access from the exterior of the home, preventing burglary attempts or forced entry.

Vinyl Frames

Vinyl sash frames have multiple chambers and are reinforced with rigid metal reinforcement to provide structural integrity that can withstand intrusion devices used by criminals.

The Best Protection Against Violent Weather

AAMA Gold Label Certified for Structural Integrity Like No Other

Poorly designed windows don’t have the built-in airlocks, weather stripping, and barriers necessary to keep air from forcing its way in, particularly during violent storms. Without these design features, air will push between the sash meeting rails and around the sash perimeter where it meets the frame and sill.

We know how uncomfortable a home with a leaky window will be. Therefore, we loaded the DuraShield V Window with weather barriers that go far beyond the industry standard and other manufacturers’ impact window designs.

Since 1962, AAMA Product Certification, the original third-party window performance program, has provided manufacturers with the means to independently demonstrate product performance to their customers. The program went on to raise the bar even higher by earning ANSI accreditation in 1972 – a credential still maintained today. The AAMA Certification Label tells customers that a sample of the product has been verified as conforming to the standards’ requirements through independent laboratory testing and follow-up on-site inspection of the manufacturer’s production line. Products authorized for certification and their manufacturers are also listed in the online AAMA Certified Products Directory (CPD), the industry’s preeminent resource for window and door products.

Certification Requirements

To promote the highest quality standards, the AAMA Certification Program is independently administered and conducted without bias.
Only the AAMA Gold Label indicates all of the following:

  • A sample of the product underwent testing per the performance-based, material-neutral requirements of the AAMA/WDMA/
CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-11 industry standard or its predecessors
  • Tests were performed at an independent AAMA-accredited testing lab and met these criteria:
  • Prescribed maximum levels of air leakage through the assembly
  • No water penetration through the assembly at a specified simulated wind speed
  • Prescribed levels of structural resistance to wind and other dynamic pressures
  • Life cycle durability requirements as applicable based on the product’s performance class designation
  • Component performance verification to AAMA specifications
  • An independent third-party validator, through two unannounced plant inspections each year, has continually monitored the product production for compliance and quality assurance procedures
  • The manufacturer used the required certified profiles and verified components where performance
standards for those particular parts and materials exist
